What is MLA Updates 2026?

MLA Updates is MLA’s annual flagship event for red meat producers and stakeholders across the supply chain. The 2026 event will feature presentations, displays and practical demonstrations highlighting MLA’s research, development, adoption, marketing and integrity systems investments.
When and where is the event?

MLA Updates 2026 will be held on Tuesday, 24 November 2026 at The Ville Resort, Townsville, Queensland.
Is there an event the evening before MLA Updates?

Yes. A welcome networking event will be held on Monday, 23 November. Attendees can select this event when completing their registration.
What time does MLA Updates start?

Registration and the showcase open at 7:30am on Tuesday, 24 November, with tea and coffee available on arrival. The formal program begins at 8:30am.
What is included in the day?
- Presentations and panel sessions featuring MLA and industry leaders
- Showcases of MLA research, insights, technologies and practical tools
- Livestock and practical demonstrations
- MLA’s Annual General Meeting at 3:30pm
- A sundowner networking event from 5:00pm

What topics will be covered?

The program includes updates on MLA’s Strategic Plan 2030, value-based marketing, biosecurity and trust, consumer and market insights, international demand and market access, as well as the issues and opportunities shaping the global operating environment. There will also be an industry forum.
Who will be speaking?

Speakers include MLA Managing Director Michael Crowley, MLA program leaders and representatives from red meat industry organisations. The speaker list and session details will continue to be updated here on the MLA Updates website as they become available.
What can I see in the showcase?
The showcase will include support, information and demonstrations across the following areas:
- myMLA, membership and general MLA support
- eNVD, LPA, the NLIS Database and on-farm traceability
- Producer Demonstration Sites and Adoption Programs
- Sustainability, Sheep and Beef sustainability frameworks, Bioacoustic sensor technology
- On-farm productivity, Fit for Transport, Feedbase program, Animal Health projects
- Beef genetics, breeding values outputs, KIDPLAN genetics resources
- MEQ Live, Objective Measurement, myFeedback, MSA Extended Transport Project
- Marketing campaigns, market reports, and industry projections.

How much does it cost to attend?

Registration is free.
Do I need to be an MLA member to attend?

No. MLA Updates is open to producers and stakeholders from across the red meat and livestock industry.
How do I register?

Register online through the MLA Updates 2026 registration page. You can select the welcome networking event, MLA Updates, the MLA AGM and the sundowner networking event as part of your registration.

Yes. The registration form includes a field for dietary requirements.
What should I do if I have trouble registering or can no longer attend?

Email events@mla.com.au for registration assistance or to advise that you can no longer attend.

Will parking be available at the venue?

Will presentations or recordings be available after the event?
